Teresa Nelson was born and raised in the Fort Worth area, graduated as High School Valedictorian then continued on to Texas Wesleyan University for her BBA in Economics/Finance.

In 1999, Teresa Nelson began developing gift designs at home while working full-time in banking. Teresa's desire to own her own company finally became a reality in January, 2000 when Teresa's Treasures was officially formed. A showroom is now located in South Fort Worth including 1,500 products to choose from.

Teresa's Treasures has since earned the 2002-2004 Small Business of the Year, 2003 Mayors Award of Entrepreneurial Excellence, 2006 Mayor's Global Award, and 2006 Spirit of Inspiration award. Teresa has been inducted into 2005-2006 National Who’s Who for Business Executives, was the 2006-07 Great Women of Texas recipient, and was named the 2006 National Gift Designer of the Year. The company received the Clear Channel Media Award for Excellence in Business presented in March, 2007 and the Small Business of the Year award again in 2008.

Teresa is currently or has served on the Fort Worth Commission for Women, Advisory Council to Congresswoman Kay Granger and Rep. Anna Mowery, Women’s Business Council, Carter BloodCare Council, and Harris Methodist Health Exchange as well as the Teen Leadership Council of Fort Worth. She is involved with local non-profit organizations such as the Women's Safe Haven and Humane Society donating time, product, and money to their cause and serves on the Sister Cities Board of Directors, FW Club membership committee, and Womens Policy Forum.

Teresa also enjoys public speaking on her inspirational life story as well as business topics such as marketing, business communication, resume’ writing, small business operations, growth management, and other related topics. She is actively involved in church with her husband, Dennis and they have three cat-children (Tazzie, Snowey, Midnight).
